     Duration 32  minutes
    In this lesson, you will take a first look at START and learn how to identify sophisticated storybooks.
  2. Lesson 2

    TST Lesson 2: The First START Read: State and Teach

     Duration 27  minutes
    This lesson introduces you to the first two elements of START and how they unfold in the first read.
  3. Lesson 3

    TST Lesson 3: The First START Read: Ask, Respond, and Tie

     Duration 30  minutes
    In this lesson you’ll learn about the last three elements of START, for a first read that highlights the key events.
  4. Lesson 4

    TST Lesson 4: The Second START Read

     Duration 27  minutes
    In this lesson you will learn how to do a second START read of a sophisticated storybook, this time focusing on the book’s characters’ thoughts and feelings.
  5. Lesson 5

    TST Lesson 5: The Third Read

     Duration 37  minutes
    In this lesson, you will learn how to do a third START read, where children will be doing a lot more of the talking.
  6. Lesson 6

    TST Lesson 6: Sarah’s Experience Planning for Transforming Story Time

     Duration 21  minutes
    In this lesson, Sara, a pre-k teacher, takes you through her experience planning successful START reads.
  7. Lesson 7

    TST Lesson 7: Responsive Teaching and START

     Duration 37  minutes
    At the end of this lesson you will have the skills to support each child in a transforming storybook experience.
  8. Lesson 8

    TST Lesson 8: End of Course Assessment

     Duration 16  minutes
    In this lesson, you will take the end-of-course assessment. You must score 80% or higher to pass the assessment and receive your certificate of completion.
