  1. Lesson 1

    Assessing Reading

     Duration 36  minutes
    In this lesson, learners will learn about the purposes of assessment, the different types of assessment, when to administer assessments, and the role of formal clinical assessments. 
  2. Lesson 2

    The Assessment Toolkit

     Duration 44  minutes
    In this lesson, learners will explore assessment protocols and learn about informal diagnostic assessments that pinpoint areas for support in the areas of various skills (e.g., phonics, phonemic awareness, etc.).
  3. Lesson 3

    Data Analysis - Three Student Data Lenses

     Duration 16  minutes
    In this lesson, learners will understand three lenses for analyzing assessment data. They will also understand the benefits of using student data profiles and forming small groups for instruction and/or intervention.
  4. Lesson 4

    Data-Informed Instruction

     Duration 21  minutes
    In this lesson, learners will understand how data inform instructional decisions and what characterizes high-quality instruction. They will also distinguish the purposes of whole group and small group instruction.
  5. Lesson 5

    Explicit Instruction

     Duration 45  minutes
    In this lesson, learners will identify and describe ways to implement explicit instruction. In addition, they will be able to see classroom examples.
  6. Lesson 6

    DDI End of Course Assessment

     Duration 18  minutes
    In this lesson, you will take the end-of-course assessment and post-course survey. You must score 80% or higher to pass the assessment and receive your certificate of completion.

The Cox Campus is the digital outreach platform for the Rollins Center for Language & Literacy. Our team is composed of experienced teachers, early learning and language experts, neuroscientists, school leaders, speech language pathologists and authorities in adult learning and curriculum design to give all children access to the Science of Reading to change the odds for all children.

The Rollins Center, of the Atlanta Speech School, in some cases, may allow an instructor, facilitator, content editor or a subject matter expert or consultant with proprietary interests to conduct professional development activities at Rollins events, provided that appropriate disclosure of such interest is made.
