Transition Visuals for DLLs
Use these as visual supports to support your communication with dual language learners. You can pair your words in English with words in the child’s first language (Spanish translations and pronunciations are provided for each card. You can ask colleagues, family members, or use google translate to learn the words in additional first languages). It can be helpful to laminate or put on cardstock and tape to a popsicle stick for easy use. Or, print them smaller and put them on a necklace you can wear. Photographs work best for visual transition support, and it is even better if you have photos of the children in your classroom.
